When is a GSM or UMTS camera worthwhile?

A camera with cellular connectivity is particularly worthwhile when alerts about activity on the property need to be sent over long distances, but neither a LAN nor a WLAN network is available. If the camera cannot transmit signals via the internet, then, for example, Jablotron models can be equipped with a SIM card for mobile network use on the 2G GSM network or the 3G UMTS network. The EYE-02 model, for instance, sends an alarm recording via SMS, MMS, email, and/or voice call when irregularities are detected.
